Will she discover a connection between the serial murders and her father's death, her mother's tempestuousness, her grandfather's kind but iron-fisted control, and reoccurring nightmares about what she fears happened on the night that forever changed her life. An intriguing plot-line laced with mystery and humor, quirky characters who are just as real whether dead or alive, and dramatic settings, painted in language often as pure as poetry make Delta Ridge's theme of family love pierced by underlying mistrust flow with refreshing honesty. Frances Downing Hunter has lived most of her life in the Crowley's Ridge slice of the Arkansas Delta. A professor of English at Arkansas State University since the mid-60s, she holds reading and writing as lifelong passions. While she has published poetry and short stories-and an edited anthology on teaching Bob Dylan (Professing Dylan), this is her first published novel.
