Auf der Beleuchtung des systemtherapeutischen Verständnisses des ätiologischen Modells depressiver Störungen liegt der Fokus dieser Arbeit. Ergänzend wird die Fragestellung, welche Risikofaktoren sich aus dieser Betrachtung ableiten und für den Praxistransfer im Rahmen von Patientenbefragungen nutzen lassen, untersucht. Depressive Störungen nehmen global zu und stellen - neben dem hohen individuellen Leid für die Patienten - auch eine hohe Belastung für Angehörige sowie eine gro e gesundheitsökonomische Herausforderung dar. Der Fokus in Diagnostik und insbesondere Therapie liegt heute vor allem auf "klassischen" psychotherapeutischen Verfahren in Kombination mit Psychopharmaka. Die Systemische Therapie als ein psychotherapeutisches Verfahren stellt eine erweiternde Sichtweise auf die Entstehung und Behandlung des Störungsbildes der Depression dar, da sie den sozialen Kontext psychischer Störungen fokussiert. Es werden zusätzlich zum "Indexpatienten" weitere Mitglieder des für den Patienten bedeutsamen sozialen Systems einbezogen. Dabei werden Wechselwirkungen zwischen intrapsychischen, biologisch-somatischen und interpersonellen Prozessen von Individuen und Gruppen als wesentliche Aspekte von Systemen betrachtet. Als Grundlage für die Diagnostik und Therapie von psychischen Erkrankungen, unter anderem der Depression, dienen die Elemente der jeweiligen Systeme und ihre wechselseitigen Beziehungen. Diagnostische Fragen dienen weniger der Erhebung von individualpsychologischen Zustandsbildern als vielmehr der Beschreibung von familiären Kommunikationsabläufen und den damit verbundenen Perspektiven und Erwartungshaltungen der Betroffenen.
