Es ist mir eine besondere Befriedigung, meinem verstorbenen verehrten Lehrer durch die vorliegenden Forschungsergebnisse iiber naturliche bedingte Rellexe des vegetativen Nervensystems eine verspatete Dankesschuld abtragen zu konnen. Ein weiterer gliicklicher Zufall, oder solI ich sagen die innere Folge- richtigkeit der Dinge, brachte mich spater als Assistent und Mitarbeiter L. R. MVLLERS in Beriihrung mit dem ungeheuren Wissensstoff des vegetativen Nervensystems, der damals fUr die "Lebensnerven" bearbeitet wurde. Fast der gesamte Inhalt des ersten und zweiten Teiles dieses Buches geht auf jene fruchtbaren Jahre an der Erlanger Klinik zuriick. Ich hatte die Freude, damals sowohl wie auch spater junge Mitarbeiter an den aufkeimenden Ideen zu finden. Inzwischen ist auch mein eigener Sohn, H. S.
