Also umfasst es die Städte Heiligenstadt, Duderstadt, Worbis und Mühlhausen. Dieses historische Gebiet des Eichsfelds ist nicht mit dem heutigen Landkreis Eichsfeld identisch. Es umfasst weit mehr Orte. Der Dialekt des Eichsfelds gehört zum Nordthüringischen, hebt sich aber von diesem durch einige Besonderheiten ab. So spricht man im Eichsfelder Dialekt im Gegensatz zum restlichen Thüringen zum Beispiel "nit" anstelle von "net" und die Vorsilbe "ge-" anstelle von "je-". Die nördlichen Orte des Eichsfelds stehen bereits unter einem niederdeutschen Dialekteinfluss. Das Eichsfeld wird von vielen Isoglossen, also Sprachlinien, die die Grenze zwischen zwei Gebieten mit unterschiedlichen sprachlichen Merkmalen anzeigen, durchzogen. So entsteht auf diesem relativ kleinen Gebiet, eine hohe Dichte von verschiedenen Dialektvariationen. Das macht das Eichsfeld für Dialektforschung besonders interessant, macht es jedoch auch fast unmögliche alle Besonderheiten der Mundarten, die von Ort zu Ort verschieden sind, zu untersuchen. Bei dieser Arbeit möchte ich mich auf den Dialekt in dem Dorf Heyerode im historischen Gebiet des Eichsfelds konzentrieren. Untersucht wird dessen Entstehung, seine sprachlichen Besonderheiten und dem heutigen Gebrauch, der Sprachpflege und der Bewertung des Dialekts. Au erdem soll ein Ausblick auf die weitere Entwicklung des Dialekts gegeben werden.
