Im folgenden wird davon ausgegangen, da die Industriepolitik als "strategische Spitze" der Wirtschaftspolitik ein weiterer bestimmender Faktor in der Entstehung und Verteilung des globalen Wohlstands ist. Industriepolitiker können dabei die Instrumente der Handels-, Technologie-, Wettbewerbs- und Steuerpolitik gezielt einsetzen. Diese Ma nahmen treffen auf die globalen Unternehmenstrategien und führen zu interessanten Reaktionen. Eine durch alle Kapitel durchgängige Fragestellung zielt auf die enge Verknüpfung von globalen Unternehmensstrategien und der Ausgestaltung einer europäischen Industriepolitik. Unternehmenssphäre und politische Konzepte werden somit bewu t zusammenhängend behandelt und nicht in isolierten Kapiteln diskutiert. Das Aufeinandertreffen und die wechselseitige Beeinflussung von Unternehmenstrategien und industriepolitischen Ma nahmen stellt den übergreifenden Hintergrund der gesamten Arbeit dar. Die Gliederung der Kapitel verdeutlicht, da die Fragestellung mehrere Bezugsgrö en aufweist: Modelle, Strategien, Beziehungen, Konzepte und Fallstudien. Es wird versucht, das Globalisierungsphänomen und seine Auswirkungen für die europäische Industriepolitik mit Hilfe dieser verschiedenen Kriterien zu strukturieren und zu erläutern - auch ein Ausdruck des bislang fehlenden theoretischen Rahmens der behandelten Thematik.
