Diese Arbeit geht am Beispiel eines konkreten Unternehmens auf diese Fragen ein und gibt mögliche Antworten in Form von strategischen Handlungsempfehlungen. Die Arbeit wird die ISS Facility Services Holding GmbH (ISS), ein FM-Unternehmen des deutschen Marktes, hinsichtlich ihres Werdeganges, ihrer Strategie und ihrer Marktposition darstellen und analysieren sowie einen Zukunftsausblick geben. Als Einstieg in die Thematik wird in Kapitel 3 zunächst ein theoretisches Grundlagenwissen über das FM vermittelt. Dabei wird ebenfalls eine Abgrenzung zum Gebäudemanagement vorgenommen, da sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit diesem Bereich konkreter beschäftigen wird. In Kapitel 4 wird der deutsche FM-Markt dargestellt. Anschlie end erfolgt in Kapitel 5 eine Darstellung der ISS Facility Services Holding GmbH in Bezug auf Historie, Kennzahlen und Strategie. In Kapitel 6 wird die ISS schlie lich analysiert. Hierzu wird eine SWOT-Analyse gewählt, welche zuerst definiert und anschlie end durchgeführt wird. Da diese sowohl interne Unternehmensfaktoren im positiven und negativen Sinne als auch äu ere Umweltfaktoren, ebenso positiv und negativ, aufgreift, ist sie das Mittel der Wahl, um ein umfassendes Bild über das Unternehmen, seinen Stand im Markt und zukünftige Entwicklungsperspektiven zu geben. Im Anschluss daran werden auf Grundlage der Analyse strategische Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet. Im Anschluss an die SWOT-Analyse wird ein Benchmarking-Prozess durchgeführt.
