Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nationalsozialismus, Zweiter Weltkrieg, Note: 1,7, Universität Potsdam, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll aufgezeigt werden, dass die Alliierten - und damit auch die US-Regierung - von der systematischen Vernichtung der Juden vor 1942 wussten. Anhand von bestehenden Fakten, Telegrammen und Berichten, die unter anderem auf der amerikanischen Militärforschungsquelle beruhen, soll eine Antwort gegeben werden, ob und warum die USA zwischen Sommer 1941 - und damit noch vor der Wannseekonferenz - und Kriegsende mehr für die Rettung der Juden hätten tun können. Welche Personen allerdings in ihrer Rolle Möglichkeiten gehabt hätten, mehr zu tun und auch Leben hätten retten können, soll nun in einigen Schritten beantwortet werden. Es liegt auf der Hand, dass die Verantwortung für die Ermordung der gesamten jüdischen Bevölkerung in erster Linie bei den Mördern, den Nazis, liegt, aber indirekt ist auch die menschliche Gesellschaft als Ganzes verantwortlich. Vor allem die alliierten Nationen und ihre Regierungen, die nicht alles in ihrer Macht stehende unternommen haben, um das Verbrechen zu stoppen. Es scheint, dass Roosevelt und die US-Regierung samt der Spitze der Alliierten den Holocaust als zufällig bzw. kontingent betrachtet haben, denn obwohl Möglichkeiten vorhanden waren, die Vernichtung der Juden zu erschweren und in manchen Fällen auch zu verhindern, hielten sie es nicht für notwendig, einzugreifen. So lag es in der Macht Roosevelts, die Einwanderungsquote zu erhöhen, um Leben zu retten. Aber eine Mischung aus Antisemitismus, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Interessen verhinderte, dass während des Krieges und des Wütens der NS-Regierung Juden in gro er Zahl in andere Länder aufgenommen wurden.
