Professionell Pflegende treffen täglich verantwortungsvolle Handlungsentscheidungen innerhalb ihrer Berufsausübung. Jede Pflegehandlung ist potentiell moralisch valent und bedarf einer Orientierung, wenn die Frage nach dem normativ Richtigen nicht eindeutig zu beantworten ist. Der Ethikkodex des International Council of Nurses (ICN-Ethikkodex für Pflegende) soll Pflegenden als Orientierungshilfe für ethische Fragestellungen dienen und die Umsetzung ethischer Verhaltensnormen fördern. In diesem Zusammenhang gilt er als wichtigstes Instrument zur Qualitätssicherung hinsichtlich ethisch relevanter Pflegehandlungen. In diesem Buch wird die Frage nach der Wirksamkeit des ICN-Ethikkodex für Pflegende in der Pflegepraxis untersucht. Im Zuge einer qualitativ-empirischen Untersuchung wurden professionell Pflegende hinsichtlich ihrer Erfahrungen mit dem ICN-Ethikkodex interviewt. Die Studie dokumentiert die Perspektive der Pflegenden und gibt einen Einblick über die eingeschätzte Anwendbarkeit des ICN-Ethikkodex sowie dessen Chancen und Schwächen im Kontext aktueller Rahmenbedingen. Zudem wurden weitere wichtige Erkenntnisse gewonnen, die für die Ausbildung einer Kultur ethischen Verhaltens im Sinne des ICN essentiell sind.

Stefanie Zinke, 1984 in Magdeburg geboren, arbeitete zwischen 2002 und 2013 als Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegerin in verschiedenen Fachbereichen stationärer und ambulanter Settings. Im Kontext ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit expandierte ihr Interesse an der Reflexion ethischer Fragestellungen und der Lehrtätigkeit. Sie studierte berufsbegleitend von 2009 bis 2013 Medizinpädagogik (B. A.) sowie von 2014 bis 2018 Lehramt an berufsbildenden Schulen (M. Ed.) für den Fachbereich Gesundheit und Pflege und dem Zweitfach Ethik. Bereits während des Studiums übernahm sie verschiedene Lehr- und Leitungsaufgaben in der Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildung Pflegender. Fasziniert und überzeugt von der Relevanz der Ethik in der Pflegetheorie und -praxis, beschäftigte sie sich intensiv mit dem ICN-Ethikkodex für Pflegende.
