Im darauffolgenden Kapitel soll der Index für Inklusion zunächst in seinen Grundzügen vorgestellt werden, bevor abschlie end geklärt wird, wie und ob er tatsächlich eine Hilfe bei dem Umstrukturierungsprozess in Schulen darstellt. Inklusion ist ein Begriff, den man zur Zeit in aller Munde hört. Die UN- Behindertenrechtskonvention von 2008 sieht vor, dass Kinder mit und ohne Behinderung gemeinsam in Regelschulen unterrichtet werden. Diese Vorgabe scheint unser dreigliedriges Schulsystem in Deutschland auf den Kopf zu stellen und gleichzeitig viele Probleme aufzuwerfen. Diese Veränderung schürt auch Ängste - nicht nur bei Schülerinnen und Schülern und ihren Eltern, sondern auch bei den Lehrkräften, die sich mit dem neuen Unterrichtskonzept auseinandersetzen müssen. Damit der Umschwung an den deutschen Regelschulen gelingt, wurde der Index für Inklusion entwickelt. Dieser soll die Umstrukturierung der Regelschulen erleichtern und allen Beteiligten dabei helfen, die neuen Strukturen zu verstehen und mit ihnen zu arbeiten.
