Zunächst werden hierfür wichtige Störungen des Kindes- und Jugendalters dargestellt, mitsamt den Ursachen und möglichen Therapien. Anschlie end wird genauer auf die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zu den Störungen im Erwachsenenalter eingegangen. Zum Schluss folgt das Konzept zum wirksamen Umgang mit ADHS. In Deutschland leben circa 13,5 Millionen Kinder und Jugendliche, die noch nicht die Volljährigkeit erreicht haben. Alle jungen Menschen haben in dieser prägenden Lebensphase besondere Herausforderungen zu meistern. Um ihre Entwicklung bestmöglich bewältigen zu können, müssen jedoch einige Bedingungen vorhanden sein. "Politik für, mit und von Jugend" bedeutet, dass gute Politik für Jugend gemacht wird, gemeinsam mit der Jugend gestalte und die Offenheit für selbstbestimmte Politik von Jugendlichen besteht. Miteinbezogen ist hier auch der Blick auf die Schaffung gleichwertiger Lebensverhältnisse, also allen die gleichen Chancen und Möglichen zu eröffnen. Zu den häufigsten Störungen im Kindes- und Jugendalter gehört die Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/ Hyperaktivitätsstörung, welche mit vielen Beeinträchtigungen der psychosozialen und kognitiven Funktionsfähigkeit einhergeht.
