Nach einer einführenden Definition von Gesten wird die methodische Vorgehensweise erläutert. Im Anschluss wird anhand von einzelnen Beispielen die unterstützenden Funktionen von Gesten für die Beschreibung beschrieben. Im Fazit wird die Forschungsfrage beantwortet. Wie wird Sprache erworben? Diese Frage hat unsere Seminargruppe im letzten Wintersemester beschäftigt. Für eine erste wissenschaftliche Annäherung an Spracherwerb ist eine Differenzierung zwischen Erst- und Zweitsprache möglich. Ein anderes Wort für Erstsprache ist Muttersprache. Wachsen Kinder mit mehr als einer Sprache auf, wird dies nicht als monolingualer, sondern bilingualer beziehungsweise multilingualer Erstspracherwerb bezeichnet. Jedes Kind ist dazu veranlagt eine oder mehrere Erstsprachen zu erwerben. Zweitspracherwerb dagegen bezieht sich auf das Lernen einer oder mehrerer Sprachen nachdem der Erstspracherwerb bereits abgeschlossen ist. Es ist umstritten, ob die angeborene Sprachlernfähigkeit den Zweitsprachlernern noch zur Verfügung steht. Stattdessen sind sie lediglich durch ihre Erstsprache/-n, ihr Weltwissen und ihre Interaktionsfähigkeit beeinflusst.
