Im Jahre 2002 hatte ich die M�glichkeit, diesen Kontinent im Rahmen eines Praktikums f�r Deutsch als Fremdsprache 3 Monate zu besuchen. Mich hat dieser Aufenthalt sehr fasziniert und noch heute denke ich oft an dieses Land zur�ck. Meine fantastische Gastfamilie hat es mir erm�glicht, im Rahmen der vorhandenen Zeit, sehr viel von diesem Land kennen zulernen. Dieses Land tr�gt nicht zu Unrecht den Namen Kontinent der Extreme. Auf der einen Seite stand ich mitten in der W�ste, umgeben vom Nichts, wo man jegliches Raum- und Zeitgef�hl verga , nur ein hei er Wind erinnerte mich daran, dass ich nicht tr�umte. Auf der anderen Seite, mitten in der Zivilisation. 15000 Kilometer von der Heimat entfernt und doch sp�rt man den europ�ischen Einfluss. Kommt man dann noch in ein "deutsches Dorf", wo es Sauerkraut und Bratwurst zu essen gibt, versteht man die Welt nicht mehr. Mich hat dieses Land sehr beeindruckt, und ich kann verstehen, warum es Tausende von Menschen dort hin zog. In dieser Arbeit m�chte ich mich im Rahmen des Hauptseminars Wissenschaftsgeschichte des Faches Deutsch als Fremdsprache mit der deutschen Sprache in Australien besch�ftigen. Als erstes werde ich mich den Hauptperioden der Einwanderung in Australien widmen. Dabei gibt es, die Koloniale Attraktion, die Imperiale Aversion und die multiethnische Situation. Des weiteren werde ich die Gegenwart und Zukunft der deutschen Sprache in Australien n�her betrachten. Als vorletzten Punkt m�chte ich die Situation des Faches Deutsch als Fremdsprache an australischen Universit�ten beschreiben. Zum Schluss m�chte ich meine eigene Meinung darstellen und den Forschungsgegenstand etwas heraus kristallisieren.
