About The Book

This collection of articles presents short reflections on various dimensions of development. Development is a broad concept and can mean anything to anybody. But in this book, it is all about development of human beings, of the land and the mother earth and all about how we interact with each other and with physical environment, how the technologies affect humans from time to time and how development enhances human happiness or misery in different ways. It also reflects how the old are being treated and how the growing 50+age group people who are neither young nor old are caught up between the shrinking job markets and the emerging talent shortage for new types of jobs. It covers varied topics such as the changing demography, yoga and spiritual living, travel, leadership, good governance, and environment.

About The Author

Manu N. Kulkarni was a Visiting Faculty at NITTE School of Management, Bangalore. He studied in Karnataka University Dharwar, Bombay University, Mumbai and specialised in Public Health in Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, where he was deputed by UNICEF which he served for nearly 20 years. Earlier,he was a Visiting Faculty at JIM Ahmedabad and Management Consultant at Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, and Sub Divisional Officer in various districts ofKarnataka. , He has been a regular contributor to Economic and Political Weekly and other development journals. He was also a Honorary Senior Fellow of the Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi, where he anchored a programme called 'India Leaders for Tomorrow', sponsored by Sir Ratan Tata Trust. In recognition of his work in promoting Leadership Development in India he was awarded fellowship by John Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University to attend the Master Class of May 2006 on "Art and Practice of Leadership Development". Dr. Manu N. Kulkarni unexpectedly passed away before the book could be published on 12th July 2013.
