Inhaltsangabe: Zusammenfassung: Diese Magisterarbeit stellt die Befunde zur Internetsucht" grundsätzlich in Frage. Im Zentrum der explorativ-deskriptiven Untersuchung von synchronen CMC-Angeboten (Chat, MUD, MOO etc.), verbunden mit Einzelfallanalysen ihrer Nutzer, stehen Vielnutzer" von Chat- und MUD (Multi-User-Dungeons)-Angeboten, deren Nutzungsverhalten deviante Züge aufweist. Ihre Nutzungsmotive sowie die Angebote selbst werden unter dem Fokus postmoderner Identitätstheorien, insbesondere der Patchwork-Identität" von Heiner Keupp, untersucht. Dabei werden Zusammenhänge zwischen CMC-Nutzung und Identitätsprozessen aufgedeckt, sowie Hypothesen entwickelt, die das Verhalten der Subjekte als Produkt normaler Identitätsarbeit fassbar machen. Es wird dabei in Ansätzen die Theorie der dominanten, virtuellen Teilidentität" skizziert, die durch die begleitenden Einzelfallanalysen gestützt wird. Forschungsleitende Fragen: Die zentrale Fragestellung dieser Arbeit ist: Wie und unter welchen Umständen beeinflussen die Erfahrungen mit synchroner Computer mediated Communication (CMC) die Erlebens-, und Verhaltensweisen der Nutzer so, dass diese zu devianten Nutzungsmustern führen? Die Beantwortung dieser Frage führt unter Punkt 2.1 zunächst zur Vorstellung der Patchwork-Identität von Heiner Keupp und deren Funktionsweise im Spannungsfeld des postmodernen Diskurses. Diesem Teil liegen die folgenden zentralen Fragen zugrunde: Wann und unter welchen Umständen werden Teilidentitäten entwickelt? Wann wird eine Teilidentität dominant? Welche Ressourcen sind für eine gelingende Identitätsarbeit notwendig? Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen werden die wesentlichen Konstrukte (Teilidentität, Dominante Teilidentität, Identitätsressourcen etc.) der Identitätsarbeit erklärt und Kriterien der Identitätsbildung herausgearbeitet. Es werden weiter Situationen mit hoher Ambiguität beschrieben und definiert, da diese den Prozess der Identitätsbildung besonders relevant werden lassen.
