Katrin Eigemann wurde 1966 in Leipzig geboren. Ihre Eltern übersiedelten 1975 mit ihr und ihrer Schwester in die Bundesrepublik. Nach dem Abitur absolvierte sie eine Ausbildung zur Medizinisch-technischen Assistentin und arbeitete über zwei Jahrzehnte in der Universitätsklinik Köln. Nachdem sie 2009 an einem aggressiven Brustkrebs erkrankte, begann sie, sich autodidaktisch über diese Krankheit zu informieren. Sie nahm an mehreren Brustkrebskongressen teil, arbeitete die dort gesammelten Einblicke auf und stellte sie in Brustkrebsforen zur Verfügung. Dort ist die Autorin unter ihrem Nickname "Jule66" vielen bekannt. Am dritten Jahrestag ihres Überlebens eröffnete die Autorin im Krebskompass einen neuen Thread mit dem Titel "Der Mutmachthread". Dieser fand sofort großen Zuspruch und entwickelte sich sehr schnell zu einer Erfolgsstory. Auch heute noch berichten darin Erkrankte über ihre persönlichen Erfahrungen, aus denen Betroffene Mut schöpfen können. Im Frühjahr 2017 wurde bei der Autorin die Genmutation BRCA2 diagnostiziert und so musste sie sich erneut mit ihrer überstanden geglaubten Krankheit auseinandersetzen. Katrin Eigemann hat zwei erwachsene Söhne und ist in zweiter Ehe verheiratet. In ihrer Freizeit kümmert sie sich um fünf Katzen und zwei Aquarien. Sie unterstützt Tierschutzprojekte im In- und Ausland.
