Das vorliegende Buch will mit seinen Diagrammen in erster Linie ein Behelf fUr den konstruktiv tatigen Ingenieur sein und beitragen, Rechenarbeit und da- mit auch Fehlerquellen zu vermindern. Um nun auch die Tafeln moglichst rasch anwenden zu konnen, sind aIle hiezu notwendigen Erlauterungen im Abschnitt IV kurz zusammengefaBt, der also unabhangig von den vorhergehenden Abschnit- ten I-III gehalten ist. Die Tafeln selbst sind in Form von Diagrammen und nicht in Form VQn Tabellen wiedergegeben, weil jene den Vorteil der Ubersichtlich- keit und der leichteren Zwischenschaltung bieten. Der MaBstab wurde so gewahlt, daB die Werte mit genugender Genauigkeit entnommen werden konnen. Die Abschnitte I-III sind fUr Anfanger gedacht und enthalten in einfacher ausfUhrlicher Weise theoretische Grundlagen. Es war dabei mein Bestreben, immer wieder die Beziehungen zwischen den Formanderungen und den inneren Kraften anschaulich darzustellen, um so das GefUhl fUr das Kraftespiel zu fordern. Fur die Unterstutzung bei dieser Arbeit bin ich Herrn Zivilingenieur Karl Kugi zu warmstem Dank verpflichtet, desgleichen Herrn Dipl.-Ing. J. Schutz fur das Lesen der Korrekturen und Herrn Dr. W. Kohler fUr das gewlssenhafte Zeichnen der Diagramme. Besonderen Dank schulde ich dem Verlag, daB er mir bereits anfangs 1946, zu einer Zeit groBer wirtschaftlicher Unsicherheit, die Zusage der Drucklegung gegeben hat, fUr die Berucksichtigung meiner Wunsche wahrend derselben und fUr die bei den Buchern des Springer-Verlages gewohnte schone Ausstattung.
