Er [...] will mittels innerer Erfahrung und rationaler Argumente das Leben des einzelnen wie die gesamte Gesellschaft, das Bewusstseinstraining und die Politik positiv beeinflussen" Der Buddhismus ist zunächst eine Glaubensgemeinschaft, die weltweit über 230 bis 500 Mio. Anhänger zählt und somit nach Christentum, Islam und Hinduismus die viertgrö te Religion der Welt ist. Der Buddhismus ist überwiegend in Süd-, Südost- und Ostasien verbreitet, ein Viertel von ihnen lebt in China, genauer in der Region Tibet, die ursprünglich ein eigenes Land darstellte und heute zu China gehört. Wir werden uns im Folgenden mit dem Buddhismus, seiner Geschichte und seiner Lehre befassen und dabei zunächst einleitend die Bedeutung der Schriften, anschlie end die Geschichte des Buddha, den Buddha als geistiges Prinzip sowie den Buddha zwischen Menschlichem Wesen und dem geistigen Prinzip betrachten und schlie lich in die Lehre einsteigen. Aus der Lehre beschäftigen wir uns mit dem Fundament der buddhistischen Tradition, nämlich den Vier Edlen Wahrheiten und dem Edlen Achtfachen Pfad der Erkenntnis. Von dieser Grundlage aus gelangen wir zum Nirvana und stellen die Bedeutung für den Buddhismus heraus. Vor der Schlussbetrachtung erfolgt ein vergleichender Exkurs des Nirvana mit Jesu Verkündigung des Reiches Gottes.
