Anschlie end werden die Erweiterung des Konzepts auf distributionsorientierte und schlie lich auf Fragen und Probleme der Produktion und logistischen Abläufe beschrieben. Kapitel 2 liefert eine theoretische Übersicht über in der Literatur gängige Systematisierungsvorschläge für die diversen Arten von Postponement. Au erdem wird der Versuch unternommen die verschiedenen Formen mithilfe von an der Praxis angelehnten Beispielen realer Unternehmen verständlich zu erklären. Anschlie end wurden die wichtigsten Vor- und Nachteile beleuchtet, die aus der Implementierung von Postponementma nahmen resultieren können. Kapitel 5 beschreibt zwei umfangreiche Konzepte im Zusammenhang mit Postponement. Auf der einen Seite werden vier generische Supply Chain Strategien im Rahmen von Postponement und Spekulation erläutert. Auf der anderen Seite werden vier Grundstrukturen für Supply Chains identifiziert, die das Ergebnis verschiedener Kombinationen von Modularisierungs- und Postponementniveaus sind. Schlie lich werden die Erkenntnisse dieser Konzepte miteinander verglichen, wobei sich herausstellt, dass gewisse Parallelen bestehen. Im Anschluss an die überwiegend theoretische Betrachtung der Sachverhalte wird anhand eines realen Beispiels aus der Sportbekleidungsindustrie detailliert dargelegt unter welchen Bedingungen der Einsatz von Postponement gerechtfertigt ist und wie die konkrete Umsetzung erfolgen kann. Zum Abschluss wird der Fokus auf zukünftige Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen gelegt, die zu erwarten sind und welchen Bereichen seitens der Forschung mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet werden sollte.
