Bei meinen Vorlesungen iiber Textilfasern, Bleieherei, Farbel'ei, Zeugdruek und Farbstoffe empfand ieh es stets als einen sehr grossen Uebelstand, dass ieh in del' teehnisehen Literatur durehaus keillen Leitfaden auffinden konnte, del' sieh dazu geeignet hatte, zur Unter- stiitzung und El'ganzung meinel' Vol'trage zu dienen und namentlielt aueh dem ZuhOrel' das Copiren del' vielen zur Verdeutliehung des Stoffes unerlasslichen Zeiehnungen zu ersparen. Ieh musste mil' mein eigenes "Collegienheft" theils aus sehr zel'streuten Quellen in df'l' rleutschen, fl'anzasischen und englischen Litel'atur, theils aus persan- lichen Beobachtungen in sehweizel'isehen und elsassisehen Fabl'ikell zusammenstellen, blieb mil' abel' rlabei stets bewusst, dass dies die Arbeit eines mitten in del' Industrie stehenden Mannes durchaus nicht ersetzen kCinne unrl wirlerstand daher auch del' Mters an mieh heran- getretenen Versuchung, mein Collegiellheft zu einem Leitfaden fiir meine Harer zu erweitern.
