Dies trifft namentlich auf die beiden Epitaphien: 'Jesus bei Maria und Martha' und den Frankfurter 'Totentanz' zu, die deshalb im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung stehen. Zunächst soll ein geschichtlicher Rückblick die Zeit der Reformation in Frankfurt (Oder) beleuchten, um die Gemäldeepitaphien in ihrer Entstehungszeit besser verorten zu können. Anschlie end wird in einem separaten Kapitel der ikonographische Wandel, der durch die Reformation hervorgerufen wurde, aufgezeigt. Hier liegt der Fokus vor allem auf dem Umgang mit Bildern in Kirchen sowie auf der neuen Ausrichtung der Bildthemen und ihrer Bedeutung. Um sich den zwei ausgewählten Gemäldeepitaphien anzunähern, wird zunächst ein Kapitel vorangestellt, das eine genauere Definition von Epitaphien anstrebt und relevante Hintergrundinformationen über deren Entstehung und Bedeutung liefert. Der Hauptteil dieser Arbeit, die Untersuchung der zwei gewählten Gemäldeepitaphien, gliedert sich in zwei Teile. Als erstes wird das Werk 'Jesus bei Maria und Martha' thematisiert. Informationen über die Familie Wins und den Maler Michel Ribestein sollen dabei ebenso geliefert werden wie Erklärungen zum Bildinhalt und dessen Bedeutung für die Reformation. Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit liegt der Fokus auf dem Werk 'Der Frankfurter Totentanz'. Zunächst gilt es, den Inhalt des Werks zu thematisieren und zu analysieren, danach soll ein Vergleich mit anderen Werken, die in ihrer Art Parallelen aufweisen, der Frage nachgeh
