Sowohl auf dem Feld der Fernsehproduktion, als auch bei Signalverbreitung und Empfang haben sich in den vergangenen Jahren zahlreiche Neuerungen hervorgetan, die berechtigten Anlass zu der Frage geben, wie es mit der alten „Glotze" weitergeht. Feststeht bereits zu diesem Zeitpunkt: Couch Potatoes wird es in Zukunft nicht mehr geben! An ihre Stelle sollen aktive Fernsehzuschauer treten, die nicht nur den Samstagskrimi quasi als eigener Regisseur mitgestalten, sondern nebenher auch diverse private oder geschäftliche Angelegenheiten über das Internet erledigen, für die bisher eigens hätte der Computer angeschaltet werden müssen - und das alles bequem vom Fernsehsessel aus.
