Die Anregung zur Herausgabe dieses Buches wurde mir vom Springer Verlag gegeben. Darfiber hinaus entsprach dieser Gedanke auch meinem eigenen Wunsche, die Erfahrungen, die ich in einer mehr als fUnf Jahr- zehnte langen Berufstatigkeit auf dem Gebiete der Hartzerkleinerung sammeln konnte, hier niederzulegen. Diese Erfahrungen und Beobach- tungen gaben mir auch den Leitfaden zu der Art der Abfassung dieser Arbeit. Die Hartzerkleinerung hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten einen auBer- ordentlichen Umfang angenommen, so daB eine das ganze Gebiet bis in aIle Einzelheiten umfassende Behandlung den Umfang eines Lexi- kons annehmen wfirde. Dies ware aber nicht der eigentliche Zweck dieser Arbeit. Hier handelt es sich vielmehr um dieSchaffung eines Handbuches, das vielen Kreisen einen Gesamtfiberblick fiber die Hart- zerkleinerung und fiber ihre zWElckmaBigste Anwendung in den ver- schiedenen Gebieten der Verfahrenstechnik vermitteln solI.
