Im ersten Kapitel des Hauptteils wird ein allgemeiner Überblick über den von den Nationalsozialisten geprägten Begriff der "Volksgemeinschaft" gegeben sowie erläutert, wie sich Hitler und seine Anhänger die deutsche Konsumgesellschaft als Bestandteil davon vorstellten. Die beiden darauffolgenden Kapitel befassen sich mit den realen Auswirkungen dieser Politik. Durch die genauere Reflexion der Ziele, welche die Funktionäre des Nationalsozialismus für die Zukunft Deutschlands formulierten und der Gegenüberstellung der historischen Ereignisse sowie durch einen analysierenden Blick auf die ökonomischen Zahlen aus dieser Zeit, soll sich am Ende der Arbeit herausstellen, ob die Errichtung einer Konsumgesellschaft nach der Vorstellung Hitlers und seiner Anhänger verwirklicht werden konnte.
