Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 1,7, Universität zu Köln (Philosophische Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Krieg und Gewalt, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Jahr 1994 zeichnet ein düsteres Kapitel in der Geschichte der Menschheit. Es markiert ein blutiges Ereignis, welches in so einem Umfang und mit so einer Schnelligkeit nur selten oder gar noch nie zuvor von statten gegangen ist. Gemeint ist der Genozid in Ruanda. Zwischen April und Juni, kamen dort schätzungsweise bis zu einer Mio. Menschen auf brutalste Weise ums Leben, mehrere Millionen flüchteten und leben zum Teil bis heute noch im Exil. Alleine in Kigali der Hauptstadt, wurden 60.000 Leichen gezählt (Harding 1998: 139). Im Gegensatz zu anderen Kriegsverbrechen, wie beispielsweise dem Holocaust, wurde der Völkermord in Ruanda -was ihn so makaber und einzigartig zugleich macht, dank dem gezielten Einwirken des Staates, von der eigenen Bevölkerung begangen. Dabei handelt es sich um einen historisch verwurzelten ethnischen Konflikt zwischen Hutus und Tutsis - zwei ehemals homogene Volksgruppen, die seit geraumer Zeit gemeinsam in Einklang miteinander lebten. Das Fundament für die spätere Spaltung der Gesellschaft wurde im Zuge der europäischen Kolonialisierung gelegt, welche die Minderheit der Tutsi, basierend auf rassistischen Vorstellungen, zur Herrschaftsklasse erhob, worauf hin sich ein Zugehörigkeitsbewusstsein innerhalb beider Gruppen herauskristallisierte. Das Blatt wendete sich, als die benachteiligten Hutus die Macht an sich rissen und so die Kontrolle im Land übernahmen. Dies war der Anfang einer langen und systematischen Propagandaschlacht seitens der Hutu-Regierung, die nun zu politischen Zwecken hartnäckig daran arbeitete, die Tutsi in jeglicher Hinsicht zu degradieren und die komplette Bevölkerung auf eine äu erst manipulative Weise zu dichotomisieren. Diese Arbeit soll Aufschluss darüber geben, welche strategischen Mittel zur Durchführung des anstehenden Masse

Ich bin Magisterabsolventin der Universitat zu Koln und habe Ethnologie sowie die Englische und Romanische Philologie(Spanisch) studiert.
