Und doch ist in etwa 100 Ländern die Pressefreiheit in Gefahr oder überhaupt nicht gewährleistet. Mi liebige Journalisten und Schriftsteller leben in ständiger Bedrohung, inhaftiert oder umgebracht zu werden. Rund 600 Journalisten wurden in den vergangenen zehn Jahren wegen ihrer Veröffentlichungen oder in Ausübung ihres Berufes ermordet. Weltweit sind nach Erkenntnissen der Organisation Reporters sans frontières (RSF) ständig rund 100 Journalisten in Haft. Die internationale Nichtregierungsorganisation(NRO) RSF versucht gegen diese Menschenrechtsverstö e vorzugehen und den bedrohten Meinungsmachern zu helfen. Wie diese Hilfe aussieht, und welche Mittel dazu eingesetzt werden sind zwei der Themen dieser Arbeit. In dieser Hausarbeit wird die deutsche Sektion von RSF, Reporter ohne Grenzen (ROG), auf allgemeine Merkmale und Charakteristika einer NRO hin untersucht. Es interessieren ihre Organisationsstruktur, ihre Zielsetzung und ihre Funktion im internationalen System. Zentral wird die Frage nach den Instrumenten und Einflussmöglichkeiten einer NRO im allgemeinen und der ROG im speziellen behandelt. Als konkretes Beispiel für die Arbeit von ROG werden Fälle in Kolumbien genannt, bei denen Journalisten zu Schaden gekommen sind. Am Länderbeispiel Kolumbien soll au erdem die Situation der Pressefreiheit in manchen Ländern, und damit verbunden die Lage der Menschenrechte, gezeigt werden. In einem ersten Schritt wird die Situation des Presserechts, der Medien und Journalisten in Kolumbien beschrieben, bevor dann auf die Nichtregierungsorganisation ROG eingegangen wird.
