Raumplanung, Note: 1,0, Pädagogische Hochschule in Schwäbisch Gmünd (Geographie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Juni 2015 hat sich die indische Regierung dazu entschieden, eine Stadtentwicklungsinitiative namens Smart City Mission ins Leben zu rufen. Hierfür sollen mit enormen finanziellen Mitteln 100 indische Städte modernisiert und zu "intelligenten Städten" transformiert werden, indem zentrale Infrastrukturen in den Bereichen Wasserversorgung, Energie, Sanitärtechnik und Abfall, Mobilität sowie Verwaltungs- und Partizipationsstrukturen verbessert werden. Dies geschieht unter anderem auch durch den Einsatz von modernen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien, wodurch sich langfristig die Lebensbedingungen der Stadtbewohnerinnen und Stadtbewohner verbessern sollen sowie die nationale und die globale ökonomische Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Städte erhöht werden sollten. Hierfür werden in Kapitel 2.1 zunächst grundlegende Begrifflichkeiten erläutert und wie eine Smart City international definiert werden kann. Anschlie end wird in Kapitel 2.2 die indische Stadtgeschichte beschrieben und in dem darauffolgenden Kapitel 2.3 welche Ma nahmen die indischen Regierungen in der Vergangenheit ergriffen haben, um eine nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung zu ermöglichen. Die Problemfelder der schnellen Urbanisierung, in den Bereichen Infrastrukturüberlastung, Verslumung und Ökologie, werden in Kapitel 3 aufgezeigt. In Kapitel 4 wird die SCM mit ihren Zielen und Handlungsfeldern vorgestellt und anschlie end in Kapitel 5 kritisch hinterfragt, inwiefern diese zur Lösung der Probleme in den indischen Städten beitragen.
