Der Sammelband geht auf ein interdisziplinäres Kolloquium zurück, das 2009 im Internationalen Wissenschaftsforum der Universität Heidelberg stattfand. Die Idee des Kolloquiums entstand aus der Feststellung, dass Comics zu den Phänomenen des gegenwärtigen Alltagslebens gehören, die von der universitären Forschung - insbesondere von der Linguistik - eher vernachlässigt werden. Ein bislang kaum erforschtes Gebiet, was Sprachexperimente, fingierte Mündlichkeit, lexikalischen Erfindungsgeist, Gebrauch von Lautsymboliken und Wortspielereien in all ihren Facetten betrifft. Hier wird nun erstmalig das Thema Comic und Sprache auf wissenschaftlichem Niveau behandelt und es werden weitere Forschungsperspektiven eröffnet. Das Buch ist interdisziplinär ausgerichtet, einerseits im Hinblick auf unterschiedliche Nationalsprachen, andererseits weil die Analyse von linguistischen Aspekten im Comic immer einen semiotischen, einen literatur- und einen kulturwissenschaftlichen Ansatz berücksichtigen muss, um der komplexen Wesensart des Comics als Text-Bild-Sequenz-Einheit gerecht zu werden.
Ce livre a son origine dans le cadre d'un colloque interdisciplinaire qui a eu lieu en 2009 à l'Université de Heidelberg. L'idée est née de la considération que le monde académique, et la linguistique en particulier, n'accorde que peu d'attention à la bande dessinée. La bande dessinée constitue un territoire inexploré en ce qui concerne l'oralité fictive, la créativité lexicale, l'emploi d'onomatopées et de jeux de mots. On aborde ici le sujet Langue et Bande dessinée au niveau scientifique dans une approche interdisciplinaire qui ouvre de nouveaux horizons pour la recherche sur la BD.
Il volume risale a un colloquio interdisciplinare tenutosi all'Università di Heidelberg nel 2009. L'idea nasce dalla considerazione di come i fumetti vengano trascurati dalla ricerca universitaria, in particolare dalla linguistica. Essi rappresentano un campo inesplorato quanto a finzione dell'oralità, creatività lessicale, impiego di ideofoni e giochi linguistici. Il tema Fumetto e lingua viene esplicitamente affrontato per la prima volta a livello scientifico in un approccio interdisciplinare aprendo nuovi orizzonti di ricerca.

Im Zentrum ihres Forschungsinteresses stehen Mediensprache und -kommunikation, Diskursanalyse, Varietäten- und Textlinguistik sowie Wortbildungslehre. Sie ist Autorin der Monographie Parola di papero über die Sprache der italienischen Disneycomics.
