Einleitung Der Kulturvergleich liegt in der menschlichen Natur. Ständig vergleicht man sich mit anderen Personen. Ein Kulturvergleich eröffnet somit auch der Kulturwissenschaft neue Möglichkeiten. Er hilft zum Beispiel dabei Phänomene der fremden aber auch der eigenen Kultur besser zu erkennen und zu verstehen. Stereotype werden analysiert und herausgebildet. Au erdem kann man durch ihn Fettnäpfchen vermeiden, die Missverständnisse und Konflikte auslösen können. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Themen der italienischen und deutschen Prosa der 60er Jahren deskriptiv verglichen, um zu zeigen was die Nationen zu der Zeit bewegte. Aufgrund des Umfangs beschränkt sich diese Arbeit nur auf die Prosa der 60er Jahre. Es geht also darum, vergleichend darzustellen, was die italienischen und deutschen Autoren der Bundesrepublik berührte, worüber sie nachdachten, was sie erzählten und was sie letztendlich kritisierten. Es soll herausgestellt werden, ob es Gemeinsamkeiten gibt und in welchen Punkten sich die Themen der erzählenden Literatur unterscheiden. Zunächst soll der Zusammenhang zwischen Literatur und Kultur betrachtet werden. Beide Begriffe werden kurz definiert, um anschlie end zu zeigen, in wie fern Literatur ein Kulturgut ist. Danach werden die Prosathemen der beiden Länder, Italien und Deutschland, einzeln betrachtet, um dann den Vergleich durchzuführen, dessen gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zum Schluss zusammenfassend dargestellt. Diese Arbeit basiert hauptsächlich auf Werken, die die Literaturgeschichte des jeweiligen Landes zusammenfassen, wie zum Beispiel "Geschichte der italienischen Literatur" von Manfred Hardt oder die die "Neue deutsche Literaturgeschichte" von Peter J.
