Der Beginn unserer L�ngsschnittuntersuchungen von Schulkindern im Jahre 1952 liegt nunmehr 15 Jahre zur�ck. In der gleichen Zeit haben sich der Lebensraum und die Lebensbedingungen dieser Kinder und Jugendlichen in Deutschland grundlegend ver�ndert. Bei der Betrachtung der einzelnen Lebens- l�ufe konnten wir die Wirkung dieser Ver�nderungen deutlich beobachten und es zeigte sich, da ein im Jahre 1952 noch vorhandener kriegsbedingter physischer R�ckstand inzwischen im allgemeinen Durchschnitt, ebenso wie im Einzelfalle, aufgeholt worden ist. Gewi geben die Untersuchungen des Stati- stischen Bundesamtes, insbesondere die Repr�sentativerhebungen, das gleiche Bild einer zunehmenden Besserung der Lebensbedingungen und unsere Ergeb- nisse stehen mit diesen nicht in Widerspruch, aber die Verschiebungen in der wirtschaftlichen und soziologischen Struktur der Familie k�nnen nur an einer solchen Beobachtungsreihe der gleichen Familien �ber 10 Jahrehinwegdeudich gemacht werden. Ebenso besteht �ber die Schulsituation in den einzelnen Untersuchungsgruppen bisher noch keine entsprechende Darstellung. Frau Dr. Anna Ronge hat in diesem Band das vielf�ltige und bewegte Bild der Umwelt der Nachkriegskinder in den F�nfziger Jahren gezeichnet.
