Zu der älteren Litteratur mit ihren zum Theil bereits recht selten gewordenen Publikationen ist die neuere Archivforschung hierzu gekommen und hat seit Josi und Nieuwenhuys bis auf de Roever und Bredius eine grosse Anzahl von Dokumenten ans Licht ge- fördert, die zum Theil zwar in Obreen's Archief und Oud Hol- land, zum anderen Theil aber auch an weniger zugänglichen Orten veröffentlicht sind. Der Verfasser hat versucht, all diese Urkunden zu sammeln, zu ordnen und zu kommentiren. Er hat bei den gedruckten Quellen die Originalausgaben herangezogen und kollationirt, bei den ungedruckten soviel wie möglich die Akten selbst verglichen. Nur bei einer grossen Gruppe und leider einer sehr wichtigen ist ihm dies nicht möglich gewesen: bei den Amsterdamer Notarprotokollen. 1) Die holländischen notariel- len Archive sind bis zur Einführung des neuen Notariatsgesetzes offiziell unzugänglich.
