Embrace the unexpected in this heartwarming tale of two kids in search of a ghost. Diego, Whynd, and the Block Island Ghost celebrates the transformative power of friendship and the bravery it takes to explore the unknown.

Diego Menendez was hoping to spend the summer with his cousins in Nicaragua, but after his grandfather dies, he finds himself living in a haunted hotel on an island off the New England coast. He reluctantly befriends Whynd Perkins, a local girl determined to contact the hotel's resident ghost. As the pair embarks on a quest to connect with the ghost, they find adventure and near misadventure along the way and Diego is pushed beyond his comfort zone. Whynd, with her plucky spirit and passion for protecting animals, becomes his anchor, challenging him to face his fears and embrace the unknown.

The summer turns into a wild escapade full of mystery. Diego soon realizes that living in an old, haunted hotel is kind of cool and hanging out with someone who asks a lot of questions, can help you find answers you never knew you were looking for.

Inspired by her experiences working in haunted hotels on Block Island and living in Nicaragua, author Cat Urbain's empowering tale of a boy's unexpected summer adventure blends humor and suspense while exploring the extraordinary power of friendship. Fans of the Penderwicks and The Ghost at Spruce Point will be drawn to the cast of quirky characters and elusive spirits.
