La acción también se retrotrae al pasado, principalmente en el Logroño de fines de los cincuenta y principios de los sesenta, en pos de resolver lo acaecido en aquellos tiempos y poder desvelar si ambas protagonistas tenían un vínculo familiar común.

Mientras firmaba decenas de letras de cambio, idealizaba la imagen de firmar tantas decenas de mis libros en cualquier caseta de la Feria del Libro, allá en el paseo de coches del madrileño parque del Retiro. Planté árboles, tuve hijos... pero ni por asomo escribía un libro. Por fin escribí y publiqué un libro: 'Memoria de Cartagena'. Sin pena ni gloria, con el único apoyo de mi mochila, llevé mi libro al soñado paseo. Sí, es una obsesión. Lo reconozco. Quizá un día alcance la meta deseada.
