A simple step-by-step guide to doing algebra the way it was taught 50 years ago when American high school graduates were first in the world in math and science. Years ago algebra wasn't complicated. Anyone graduating from an American high school was prepared to proceed to college algebra upon entering college. There was no credit given for elementary algebra as a college course, and few people required it. This book explains it the same way it was done then. After 15 years of teaching these concepts at the college level, I have found this method still works today.

About the author: Ms Bower worked for 20 years as mechanical engineer before pursuing an advanced degree in mathematics to teach at the college level. After 15 years of teaching both at state and private universities, she discovered the remedy for the deficiencies of today's students in mathematics is to return to the basics as they were taught 50 years ago when American graduates led the world in mathematics and science. She has simply compiled in formal documentation what was once so simple it was not necessary to be documented. What one learned, one could teach. The result is this series of texts. Ms Bower is currently an adjunct professor of mathematics at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio
