Diese Literaturrichtung kam im beginnenden 20. Jahrhundert in Deutschland auf und herrschte in den 1920er und 1930er Jahren vor, in der Zeit der Weimarer Republik nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg. Gegenstand meiner Hausarbeit ist das kunstseidene Mädchen Doris, die Protagonistin des gleichnamigen Werkes. Der Lebensweg dieses sehr jungen Mädchens und deren Charakter machen es zu einer solch interessanten Figur, welche mich seit der ersten Zeile neugierig machte, die Person und deren Lebensumstände hintergründiger zu betrachten. 1932, als "Das kunstseidene Mädchen" veröffentlicht wird, steht die Machtübernahme durch Hitler bald bevor. Beschrieben wird im Roman "die innere Zeitgeschichte" in der "Endphase der Weimarer Republik", die durch die nationalsozialistische Herrschaft abgelöst wird. Zunächst gebe ich einen kleinen Einblick in die als typisch geltenden Merkmale des Stils der Neuen Sachlichkeit, die Irmgard Keun in "Das kustseidene Mädchen" verwendet. Im Folgenden werde ich versuchen, die Person Doris anhand ihrer Tagebuchaufzeichnung zu charakterisieren und ihr Leben in der Zeit, die das Tagebuch umfasst, nachzuzeichnen. Dabei will ich ihre Lebenseinstellung zum Ausdruck bringen und damit verknüpft ihr Denken über die Rollenverteilung von Männern und Frauen anführen, gerade in Anbetracht der politischen und sozialen Umstände in der untergehenden Weimarer Republik. Warum das Werk Irmgard Keuns von den Nationalsozialisten verboten wurde, möchte ich abschlie end aufzeigen.
