Todo comienza cuando Jonathan Harker un joven agente inmobiliario debe realizar un viaje a Transilvania para concluir el trabajo de su compañero, George Renfield, el cual era el de terminar de comprar unas propiedades en Londres para el Conde Drácula, el cual también le pide que le explique cosas acerca de Londres. Renfield se encuentra ingresado en un manicomio desde su viaje a dicho paraje de la cordillera de los cárpatos. En un principio la estancia de Jonathan en la morada del Conde Drácula es normal, pero a medida que pasan los días se comienza a dar cuenta de la extraña naturaleza de su anfitrión (ve que no se refleja en los espejos). A medida que pasaron los días el anciano agradable que Jonathan había conocido en un principio, se convierte en un ser despreciable, ruin y despiadado, hasta el punto que llega ha hacer prisionero al joven agente. Mientras en Londres Mina Murray prometida de Jonathan Harker comienza ha impacientarse por su tardanza.

Bram Stoker es conocido universalmente por ser el creador de Drácula, el mas famoso de todos los vampiros. Nacido en Irlanda en 1847, este funcionario y crítico teatral desarrollo la mayor parte de su carrera en Londres. Su origen irlandés explicaría su interés por las antiguas leyendas, y su fascinación por el tema del vampirismo, que juega un importante papel dentro del folklore irlandés. Su relación con el mundo teatral londinense le llevo a conocer muy diversos personajes, y se dice que Van Helsing esta inspirado en un profesor húngaro experto en folklore transilvano que le presento su amigo Henry Irving. Asimismo, las conversaciones que tuvo con un egiptólogo le inspiraron en la escritura de "La joya de las siete estrellas. Lo onírico, lo romántico unido a lo horrible así como las maldiciones constituyen constantes en su obra maestra. Murió el 20 de abril del 1912 a causa de una gran enfermedad. El mundo en el momento en que se escribía la obra: La época victoriana fue la época en la que Bram Stoker paso la mayor parte de su vida y por tanto fue en la época que se escribió drácula, una historia inigualable de la cual se han hecho cantidad de películas y de versiones diferentes.
