1m Friihjahr 1976 wurde mein Vorschlag einer halbjabrigen Studienreise nach der USSR mit dem Hauptziel der weiteren Erforschung des tungusi- schen Samanismus von dem International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) in New York angenommen, wodurch mein Projekt im Rahmen des offIZiellen Gelehrtenaustausches USSR - USA mit einer gewissen Aussicht aufErfolg durchgefiihrt werden konnte. Es ist mir eine angenehme Pflicht, lREX und seinem damaligen Direktor, Dr. Daniel MATUSZEWSKI, an dieser Stelle meinen herzlichen Dank auszusprechen. AuBer dem hier vorgelegten samanistischen Material habe ich mir aus dem NachlaB RYCKOVs noch eine Reihe weiterer, ebenfalls in den Jahren 190519 von ihm aufgezeichneter ewenki-tungusischer Texte fotokopieren lassen. Die von I. M. SUSLOV 1926/8 an der Mittleren und Unteren Tun- guska gemachten ethnologischen Beobachtungen, die leider keine tungusi- schen Texte enthalten, habe ich 1983 veroffentlicht. AuBer einigen Stiicken aus dem unveroffentlichten reichhaltigen Material, das die beiden LIPSKIJ- VAL'ROND Ende der zwanziger Jahre bei den Nanaj in Ost-Sibirien im Amur- und Ussuri-Gebiet aufgenommen hatten und das ich einsehen konnte (c Ural-Altaische Jahrbiicher, LII, 1980, pp. 87-100), habe ich eini- ges, bisher meist unbekanntes Material flir ein Glossar von Bezeichnungen flir Gebrauchsgegenstiinde der Ewenki und Lamuten gesammelt, welche sich im Russkij Muzej in Leningrad/St. Petersburg befinden. Ich habe sie flir eine etymologische Bearbeitung vorgemerkt. In Leningrad verbrachte ich drei Herbstmonate 1976 und die drei Friih- lingsmonate 1977.
