Dabei geht es im zweiten Kapitel zunächst sowohl um den Begriff "Dyskalkulie", als auch um die derzeit vorherrschenden Definitionen von Rechenstörungen. Das dritte Kapitel identifiziert mögliche Ursachenfelder von Rechenstörungen und gibt einen Überblick über deren Erscheinungsformen. Im vierten Kapitel geht es um die Diagnostik von Rechenstörungen. Hierzu werden neben den diagnostischen Leitlinien der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und Psychotherapie (2007) vier normierte Rechentests vorgestellt, bewertet und diskutiert. Alle Rechentests werden in der gängigen Praxis angewendet und sind für den Primarstufenbereich normiert. Schlie lich wird der Frage nachgegangen, was solche Tests überhaupt leisten können bzw. aussagen und wo sie an ihre Grenzen sto en. Das letzte Kapitel informiert über Möglichkeiten der Intervention und Förderung von rechenschwachen Kindern. Dabei wird parallel zu den Inhalten einer Dyskalkulie-Therapie auch auf die unterstützende Rolle der Schule und der Eltern eingegangen. Hierzu werden anhand eines Mediatorentrainings konkrete Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten aufgezeigt. Desweiteren wird das im September 2008 erschienene Computerspiel "2weistein" vorgestellt und diskutiert. Dieses Lernspiel soll laut Hersteller vor dem theoretischen Hintergrund aktueller ADHS- und Dyskalkulieforschung entwickelt worden sein und sich insbesondere zur Förderung von Kindern mit Rechenstörungen eignen.
