Ecology is a subject of prime importance before the world today. Any variation in ecological balance and environmental settings brings corresponding change in the existing physical conditions and behavioral pattern too. In this book the author highlights the social psychological explanations of ethnic identity and various determinants of identity and its dimensions. The book further discusses the Interrelationships among ecological settings, level of deprivations, sex and identity of different ethnic groups. Findings reported in this book show that different ethnic groups like Muslims, Sikhs, Scheduled Caste and Hindus possess different identity.

Sushma Suri earned her B.A. (Hons.) & M.A. degrees in Psychology from Magadh University and obtained Ph.D. degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She joined Jamia in 1986 and has been associated with the Department of Psychology, Jamia Millia Islamia, in different capacities. Dr. Sushma Suri worked in a couple of Research Projects sponsored by the Government of India, Ministry of Welfare. Presently she is working as Lecturer. Dr. Suri participated in a number of seminars and conferences in India and abroad. She published over a dozen articles in the national and international journals of Psychology.
