About The Book

L'Édition électronique du Roland de Cambridge fait partie d'un projet d'une plus grande envergure, i.e. le Projet Rollant, qui a pour but d'éditer tous les manuscrits en vers français de la Chanson de Roland. Le projet est réalisé par un seul chercheur, malgré le pronom nous qui l'indique dans cette édition. Il s'agit d'une entreprise téméraire, voire insensée, mais qui a un mérite de pouvoir établir un corpus beaucoup plus homogène que celui des éditeurs anglophones que Joseph J. Duggan a dirigés. Pour vous en persuader vous n'avez qu'à comparer la présente édition avec l'Édition électronique du Roland d'Oxford, que nous avons déjà publiée sur la toile en 2013 (1): quant à l'hétérogénéité méthodique du French Corpus cachée sous une apparence uniformisée, il suﬃt de rappeler que les textes de P, T, L sont indépendamment présentés tandis que le sigle V7-C représente le texte rétabli du modèle commun des deux manuscrits. Par ailleurs, nous avons déjà expliqué quelques problèmes méthodologiques de l'édition de van Emden (RolCaE, suivant DEAFBiblEl) dans notre article (Ogurisu 2021), où nous nous croyons suﬃsamment justiﬁé de publier une nouvelle édition du manuscrit T, qui a déjà fait l'objet de trois éditions.

(1) Mais surtout sa deuxième édition parue en 2022, revue et modiﬁée pour adapter la première à la norme de notre édition qui a évolué au cours du travail éditorial de P-T-L du Roland.
