In historischer Perspektive stehen in den Studien dieses Bandes Werkeditionen und Interpretationen zur - vornehmlich deutschsprachigen - modernen Lyrik seit 1800 im Mittelpunkt. Friedrich H�lderlins nur wenige hundert Druckseiten umfassendes Werk ist mit vier historisch-kritischen Gesamtausgaben sowie zahlreichen Studien- und Leseausgaben das wohl am intensivsten edierte OEuvre eines einzelnen Autors im Bereich der neueren deutschen Literatur. Mit vier Studien zu H�lderlin ist daher dieser Anfangs- und Bezugspunkt der modernen deutschsprachigen Lyrik besonders stark vertreten. Die weiteren neun Abhandlungen sind einem �berblick �ber die Geschichte der Lyrik-Edition sowie den Werken Stefan Georges, Rudolf Borchardts, Rainer Maria Rilkes, Georg Trakls, Gottfried Benns, Bertolt Brechts, Paul Celans und Ernst Jandls gewidmet.
