NET is one of the most difficult examinations, more so because the syllabus is very vast and only a few lucky ones can cross the threshold, especially in English. This is borne out by the small number of students who have been able to clear the test over the years.

The present book is written keeping in mind the new pattern which is effective from June 2012 examination according to which Paper II and III have objective-type questions. Special attention has been paid to ‘Literary Theory and Criticism’, which has been dealt with quite extensively. One of the unique features of the book is that explanatory notes have been given wherever required and some information is sought to be given through ‘boxes’. Besides, the book has objective-type questions on all the units of Paper III.

This latest edition has been updated with the inclusion of UGC-NET Question Papers II and III (with Answers) up to June 2016.

The book will prove useful for those preparing for UGC NET, JRF, SLET and other competitive examinations in the subject of English.

Prof B.M. Naik, is the founder principal of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering & Technology at Nanded. He is civil engineer by profession. He received his higher education in Pune and Germany. He has travelled widely, to UK, US, Germany and China, to participate in academic meets. He was Dean, Engineering, for several years. He is an author of four books and more than hundred articles. One of his articles was awarded a prize by the Institution of Engineers, (India). Currently, he is a mentor to several colleges and universities. He is board member of Government College of Engineering Aurangabad. He was felicitated by his alma mater, Government College of Engineering, Poona with “Lifetime Achievement Award” for performing as an outstanding “Institution Builder.”
