About The Book

Traduction intégrale de la deuxième édition de l'ouvrage "Gymnastische Erziehung" de F. von Bothmer enrichi de diverses contributions, parue en allemand en 1981. Cette approche du mouvement, aujourd'hui couramment nommée "Gymnastique Bothmer(R)", fut fondée pour s'intégrer à l'enseignement de l'éducation physique dans la pédagogie mise en oeuvre dans la première école Waldorf à Stuttgart. Elle se compose d'exercices spécifiques à chaque étape d'âge, donc des plus petits de 8/9 ans, jusqu'aux plus grands de 17 ans et plus. Pour F. von Bothmer, les dimensions de l'espace ne sont pas des notions abstraites et sans vie, mais des forces qui orientent et relient l'être humain à l'espace illimité. Conscience et conquête des dimensions de l'espace et de ses lois sont donc au coeur de cette discipline. Tout en s'appuyant sur les caractéristiques de la culture et de la pensée occidentales, elle est une alternative à l'approche par trop réductrice des activités physiques et du mouvement. La Gymnastique Bothmer(R) ou Éducation Gymnique nous propose une autre relation à notre corporéité et au monde qui nous entoure. Elle agit jusque dans le développement intérieur de l'être humain. About The Author

Comte Friedrich von Bothmer, né en 1883 à Munich, et mort en 1941 à Salzbourg. Quelques années après sa participation à la première guerre mondiale en tant qu'officier de cavalerie, il met fin à sa carrière militaire. Il est alors sollicité par Rudolf Steiner pour prendre en main les cours de gymnastique (d'éducation physique) dans la première école Waldorf, à Stuttgart. L'entière confiance qui lui est alors accordée et la volonté d'élever sa mission à la hauteur des objectifs de cette pédagogie lui donnent la force et l'inspiration nécessaires pour créer l'Education Gymnique ou Gymnastique Bothmer(R) entre 1922 et 1938.
