Ziel dieser Studie war es, festzustellen, ob es einen Unterschied zwischen dem Überarmwurf (OA) und dem Seitenarmwurf (SA) bei Softballspielern gibt. Die Teilnehmerinnen absolvierten jeweils 10 Fielding- und Wurfversuche (5 SA und 5 OA) in einer "spielähnlichen Situation". Die Ergebnisse zeigten, dass die SA-Bewegungszeit schneller ist als die OA-Bewegungszeit, dass die SA-Flugzeit langsamer ist als die OA-Flugzeit und dass die SA-Gesamtzeit schneller ist als die OA-Gesamtzeit, was beweist, dass der SA-Wurfstil schneller ist. Anschlie end wurde die allgemeine SA-Mechanik untersucht, wobei drei Gruppen von SA-Würfen untersucht wurden: schnelle, moderate und langsame SA-Würfe. Die Ergebnisse zeigen einen signifikanten Unterschied zwischen den schnellen, moderaten und langsamen SA-Wurfgruppen in den Bereichen Bewegungszeit, Flugzeit und spezifische Mechanik wie Aufwickelphase, Schrittphase und Rumpfbeugung beim Loslassen des Balles. Anhand dieser Ergebnisse können Empfehlungen ausgesprochen werden, um den SA-Wurf zu verbessern und ihn zu einer effizienteren Wurftechnik zu machen.
