Im Vorfeld ist jedoch im Einzelnen zu klären, was überhaupt Nachhaltigkeit ist, wie sie entstand und von welcher Bedeutung sie ist. Des Weiteren ist zu klären, was eigentlich eine Wirtschaftspolitik ist. Woraus besteht eine Wirtschaftspolitik? Die Arbeit geht, au erdem, auf die Gesellschaft ein, mit dem Fokus auf unser Konsumverhalten. Unsere Welt steht vor einer Reihe von Herausforderungen, denen sich die Gesellschaft mit hoher Dringlichkeit zu stellen hat. Die weltweite wachsende Gesellschaft, die Globalisierung der Märkte, die Veränderung der demografischen Struktur, der beschleunigte technologische Fortschritt, die Urbanisierung und die steigende Bedeutung der Schwellenländer gehören zu den Megatrends, denen sich weltweite Politik und Wirtschaft gegenüberstehen. Die globale Erwärmung und die Folgen, welche auf das Klima und Ökosystem zurückfallen sind im wesentlich auf diese und weitere Ursachen zurückzuführen. Durch die stetig steigende Nachfrage der Gesellschaft gelangen wir eines Tages an einen Punkt, an dem diese nicht mehr gesättigt werden kann, denn unsere Ressourcen sind knapp. Es ist also ein möglichst sparsamer, umweltbewusster, langfristiger und wertbewusster Umgang mit unseren Ressourcen gefordert, um das Leben kommender Generationen mit ähnlichen Gegebenheiten zu gewähren. Dieser Thematik stellt sich der Begriff der Nachhaltigkeit, welchen ich, neben dem Verhalten der aktuellen Wirtschaftspolitik und der Entwicklung einer nachhaltigen Wirtschaftspolitik in meiner Facharbeit aus neutraler Sicht näher erläutern möchte.
