Seitdem der Internationale Verband für die Materialprüfungen anläBlich seines Kon- gresses in Kopenhagen (1909) Vereinbarungen über die Kerbschlagprobe getroffen hat, ist die Klärung dieser Abhängigkeit von allgemeinem Interesse. Die ersten planmäfiigen Untersuchungen erfolgten dann etwa ab 1912 durch BAUMANN, STRIBECK, HEYN und SCHÜLE [2]. Es zeigte sich bald, daB die Verhältnisse bei der Kerbschlagprobe recht verwicke1t und Ähnlichkeitsgesetze nicht anwendbar sind [3]; das heiBt, daB ein Vergleich der mit ver- schiedenen Proben ermittelten Kerbschlagzähigkeitswerte nicht ohne weiteres möglich ist. Durch Änderung der Probenabmessungen werden Spannungszustand und Verfor- mungsgeschwindigkeit beeinfluBt, was sich dann meist auch auf den Verlauf der ak-{}- Kurve (Kerbschlagzähigkeits-Temperatur-Kurve) auswirkt. Wie sich zeigen wird, ist die Erfassung der Einflüsse durch Änderung einer Probenabmessung meist nur der Tendenz, nicht jedoch der absoluten GröBe nach möglich. Der Grund dafür ist einmal im WerkstoffeinfluB, zum anderen darin zu suchen, daB sich bei Änderung einer Ab- messung zwangsläufig mehrere Einflüsse überlagern können; z. B. werden durch Ände- rung der Kerbtiefe bei Einhaltung aller anderen Probenabmessungen gleichzeitig das Seitenverhältnis und der Bruchquerschnitt geändert.
