Seit Beginn der 70er Jahre lä t sich feststellen, da das Konzept der integrierten Material- wirtschaft oder des Materialmanagements in der deutschen Industrie vermehrt eingeführt wurde und aufgrund seiner modernen Managementdenkweise und -verfahren mittlerweile eine breite Akzeptanz in Deutschland gefunden hat. Es ist nicht zu verleugnen, da die theoretische Anerkennung dieser kostensparenden Organisationsform schneller verlief als die eigentliche Realisierung in Form einer verantwortungsgerechten Umstrukturierung der Unternehmensorganisationen. Dies ist aber nicht verwunderlich, wenn man in der Praxis verfolgt, wie schwer es doch ist, aus den mächtigen Bereichen Vertrieb, Produktion und Finanzen die bisher separat unterstellten Materialwirtschaftsfunktionen herauszulösen und daraus einen weiteren Führungsbereich, nämlich die Materialwirtschaft, zu formen. Trotzdem ist es erfreulich, da die meisten Gro -und Mittelunternehmen die Geburts- wehen dieser neuen Funktion bereits überstanden haben und viele andere nach neuesten Untersuchungen dabei sind, sich intensiv mit der Reorganisation der Materialwirtschafts- organisation und -verantwortung zu befassen. Sicherlich wird der Trend zur zentralen Materialwirtschaftsverantwortung dadurch ver- stärkt, da sich die Bewu tseinsprozesse der Geschäftsführungen stark gewandelt haben, seitdem mehr über die Verknappungserscheinungen von Öl und sonstigen Rohstoffen diskutiert wird und man zur Erkenntnis gelangt ist, da eine kostengünstige und zeitge- rechte Materialversorgung einen immer wichtiger werdenden Beitrag zur Existenzsiche- rung der Unternehmungen leistet. Die Materialwirtschaft ist hoffähig geworden, was sich nicht zuletzt in der Präsenz von Materialwirtschaftsverantwortlichen in den Vorständen der Gro industrie widerspiegelt. Dies ist Grund genug, das heute nur spärlich vorhandene Schrifttum über die komplexen Zusammenhänge der Materialwirtschaftsfunktion durch eine allgemeine "Einführung in das Materialmanagement" zu ergänzen.
