Die vorliegende "EinfUhrung in die Baustatik" behandelt die Theorie der Tragwerke etwa in dem gleichen Umfang wie die Hauptvorlesung tiber Baustatik, die der Verfasser fUr die Studierenden der FakulUit fUr Bauingenieurwesen an der Technischen Hochschule in Wien halt. Mit der "EinfUhrung in die Statik" und der "EinfUhrung in die Festigkeits- lehre", welche der Verfasser gemeinsam mit Dr. Chmelka bereits frtiher im gleichen Verlage erscheinen lieB, bildet der vorliegende Band den AbschluB einer Reihe, die in nicht allzu breiter Darstellung dem Studieren- den jene grundlegenden Kenntnisse vermitteln soll, deren er zur Berech- nung und Bemessung der Tragwerke bedarf. Der Verfasser war bemtiht, eine leichtfal3liche, aber trotzdem exakte Darstellung der Grundlagen zu geben; daneben ist aber auf die praktische Anwendung weitgehendst Rticksicht genommen und zahlreiche numerische Beispiele sollen zeigen, wie die Theorie in der Praxis tatsachlich angewendet wird. Der-Verfasser verdankt Herrn Dozenten Dr. Chmelka, mit welchem er die beiden ersten vorgenannten Bande herausgegeben hat, diesmal eine grtindliche Durchsicht der Korrekturen; er dankt weiters Herrn Dipl. - lng. E. Hafenrichter fUr die Mithilfe bei der Ausarbeitung und Her- stellung des Manuskriptes.
