Der Mangel an einer allgemeiE ver- ständlichen, kurzgefa ten Darstellung dieses Fachgebietes m cht sich um so mehr fühlbar, als in den letzten Jahren vielfach neue Arbeitskräfte dem Bauwesen zuströmten, die bisher kaum etwas mit Baustoffen zu tun hatten. Aus diesen Gründen wurde über An- regung aus Bauhandwerkerkreisen dieses Buch verfa t. Die Auf- gabe, alle im Bauwesen Tätigen, den Maurerlehrling, Facharbeiter, Polier und Bautechniker bis zum Baumeister und Architekten mit den Eigenschaften der Baustoffe näher vertraut zu machen, bringt die Forderung der leichtfa lichen Ausdrucksweise mit sich. Es werden daher keine besonderen Vorkenntnisse vorausgesetzt, das Buch ist vielmehr als eine Einführung in die Baustoffkunde ge- dacht. Die chemischen Formeln sind zwar mitangeführt, ihre K, enntnis ist aber zum Verständnis der Vorgänge nicht notwendig. Um den Anschaffungspreis des Buches gering zu halten, mu te manches in knapper Form behandelt werden, trotzdem werden. alle Arten von Baustoffen wie auch die Prüfungsbestimmungen und Normen berücksichtigt, damit das Buch auch als Ratgeber bei der Baustoffauswahl dienen kann. Der Verfasser bittet alle Baufachleute und Baustoffirmen, ihm neue Erfahrungen mit Baustoffen mitteilen zu wollen, damit diese bei einer Neuauflage berücksichtigt werden können. Herrn lng.
