Auf Anregung des Gabler-Verlages erscheint zusätzlich die vorliegende Zweitausgabe als selbständige Schrift. In der deutschen Öffentlichkeit haben in den letzten Jahrzehnten Wirt- schaftsfragen zunehmend Beachtung gefunden, nach Ansicht mancher Ge- sellschaftskritiker sogar eine Überbetonung erfahren. Dieser Tatbestand wirkt sich in stark ansteigenden Studentenzahlen und einer erheblichen Zunahme immer mehr spezialisierter wirtschaftswissenschaftlicher Litera- tur aus. Ferner macht sich eine wachsende Berücksichtigung wirtschaftlicher Erwägungen auch bei politischen und sozialen Entscheid: ungen bemerkbar. Hieraus ergibt sich ein Bedarf nach einführenden Schriften, um dem Stu- denten, dem Wirtschaftspraktiker und auch dem interessierten Au en- stehenden einen Überblick über den heutigen Stand der Wirtschaftswissen- schaft, ihre Fachsprache und ihre theoretischen Erkenntnisse zu vermitteln. Die vorliegende Schrift bezweckt eine solche Einführung in das Teilgebiet der Betriebswirtschaftslehre. Aus dem Einführungscharakter ergeben sich mehrfache Konsequenzen. Zunächst können keine Spezialgebiete der Be- triebswirtschaftslehre, wie z. B. Einzelhandel, Industrie oder Verkehrs- wesen, behandelt werden. Auch innerhalb des verbleibenden allgemeinen Bereichs ist es nicht möglich, spezielle Probleme vertieft zu erörtern. Das Grundsätzliche des Fragenkomplexes wird vielmehr den technischen Ein- zelheiten bewu t vorgezogen und möglichst einfach und klar dargestellt.
