Schuld an diesem MiBstand tragt im wesentlichen die Entwieklung der deutschen Neurologie, die einen Streit der internen Medizin und der Psychiatrie urn die ZugehOrigkeit der Neurologie entfachte. Die innere Medizin als die Mutter der Neurologie entlaBt naturlich ihr fruher von ihr wohlgepflegtes Kind, das sich zwar in den letzten J ahrzehnten zu eigener Selbstandigkeit entwiekelt hat, nur ungern aus ihrer Obhut, aber auch die Psychiatrie, die sieh ebenfalls urn die Entwicklung der Neurologie groBe Verdienste erworben hat, macht entsprechende Anspruche auf die Neuro- logie geltend. Leider besitzen nur wenige deutsche Universitaten, wenigstens in einem der Vertreter der genannten beiden Diszipline, einen Mann, der noch in der Lage ist, das umfassende Wissensgut der Neurologie aus eigener Er- fahrung und Forscherarbeit dem kiinftigen Arzt zu iibermitteln. Dazu sind die beiden groBen, vorbereitenden vorklinischen Facher, die Anatomie und Physio- logie, infolge des ungeheuren Stoffes, den sie zu bewaltigen haben, meist nicht in der Lage, die fUr die klinische Neurologie ni: itige Vorarbeit zu leisten. Die Neuroanatomie schneidet je nach dem neurologischen Interesse des betreffenden Fachvertreters mehr oder minder gut ab, und dazu fehlt dem Studierenden beim Studium der Neuroanatomie haufig die entsprechende Gefiihlsbetonung, da die Neuroanatomie erst durch die Beriicksichtigung von klinischen und physio- logischen Tatsachen die ni: itige Belebung erhalt.
